Tara Prasad Ojha

Tara Prasad Ojha was born in Kalikasthan VDC 9, Doti District, Mauwa Village in Far west Nepal on 25October 1965 as the eldest son of ShriYajnaRaj Ojha who is known and respectfully called as Gurujee and is now a retired teacher and literary figure in far-west Nepal. With his father as the main source of inspiration in art, T.P. Ojha received his Master’s degree in Fine Art (Sculpture), Master’s degree in Political Science and Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Tribhuvan University (TU) in 2010, 2005 and 1992,respectively. He has been teaching sculpture in Lalitkala Campus (Fine Arts Campus) Kathmandu for two years. With four solo Sculpture Exhibitions to his credit and he has participated in numerous group art exhibitions and activities. His selected works include: Nepal-German week in Kathmandu on the occasion of silver jubilees of His Majesty King Birendra’s Accession to throne in 1996, National Art and craft exhibitions organized by NAFA since 1996, 15th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh 2012, Namaste Embracing Cultures Nepal America Art Exhibition 2013 by Nancy Scheinman Curator Baltimore USA, ‘From Portrait to self Portrait’ 2012 Photographer Antonio Nodar UK, Residential Sculpture Workshop in Butwal Hill Park in 2010, A visual art symposium on up cycling of waste materials form Mt. Everest 2012 “Journey Towards our Future” “Mt. Everest-8848 Art Project I-2012” organized by ‘Da Mind Tree’ the Art Club Nepal and ‘International Sculpture symposium’ Komagane Park Pokhara 2013 in Nepal.

 

Mr. Ojha has been felicitated multiple times: e.g. the national talent award 1993 by the Ministry of Education, outstanding young Nepalese award with Gold Medal in 1996 by Nepal Jaycees, 3rd and 2nd prize,28th and 29th National Art and Craft Exhibition by NAFA in 1996 and 1997, Regional Talent Award 2009 Ministry for Cultural and Constitutional Assembly. He is an Assembly Member of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, since 2010. He is the campaigner on environmental issues through Nature Conservation Campaign 2066 B.S.
